Monday morning May 9th the planet Mercury makes a transit across the Sun. This is a very rare occurrence and happens only once every 10 or 11 years. We will use our solar telescopes and eclipse glasses for safe viewing of the transit starting about 8:00 AM at the observatory. We will also simulcast the live view of the transit broadcast from the NASA Solar Dynamic Observatory telescope in New Mexico ( http://mercurytransit.gsfc.nasa.gov ) onto our big screen at the observatory.
